WHAT IF I DO NOTHING?

The risk of having one or more of the nocturnal bruxism symptoms and doing nothing is you could get significantly worse. Muscle tension headaches can become migraines. Neck pain can lead to decreased movement and exaggerated forward head posture. Abrading the teeth can lead to tooth pain, fracture and loss, periodontal issues, deeper overbites and severe tooth crowding. Snoring can develop into obstructive sleep apnea. Chronic pain can promote depression and drug dependence. Like any affliction the earlier you treat the better result you get.

WHAT ABOUT CONVENTIONAL NIGHTGUARDS?

Many of these are over the counter, one size fits all type, some are custom fit by dentists, but they protect the teeth with bulky plastic or rubber. Unfortunately it often promotes more, not less, muscle activity and tension while you grind the material away. They may need replacement several times a year, but symptoms may continue to get worse.

HOW DOES THE BRYAN RAMP WORK?

The Bryan Ramp in uniquely designed to position the lower jaw slightly forward. Only your six front teeth engage the ramp while your back teeth do not touch together. This positioning allows your jaw to decompress. The muscles used for clenching relax.

WHY DO YOU CALL IT THERAPEUTIC?

The night time repositioning of the jaw relaxes the muscles used in clenching. This relieves many of the morning symptoms people suffer from. Continued night time use will improve many of these symptoms.

ARE THERE ADVERSE REACTIONS?

The Bryan Ramp is made from a non allergenic polymer that conforms to FDA guidelines. There have been no reactions to date. If any soreness occurs on the soft tissues, gums, or cheeks, your dentist can adjust the night guard. If you have been diagnosed with OSA Obstructive Sleep Apnea, note that the Bryan Ramp is not an OSA appliance but can still be used with a CPAP.
If you experience any sore teeth, jaw pain or limitation see your dentist to adjust your appliance. In the event of any ear pain or pressure, see your dentist.

HOW DO I CLEAN THE BRYAN RAMP?

Use your toothbrush to gently clean the Bryan Ramp. Use mouthwash, not toothpaste. During the day store it in the case with water and mouthwash to keep it fresh.
Keep away from pets! They love them!

BITE FEELS OFF IN THE MORNING?

This is a common feeling first thing in the morning. It is a time when the muscles are readjusting to your normal position. It may last only a few minutes to an hour. If this “off bite” persists for several hours or a day, see your dentist.

MY JAW CLICKS WITHOUT MY BRYAN RAMP!

If you notice a jaw pop or click after wearing the Bryan Ramp, you may have a displaced disc. You may have a subclinical TMJ problem that could require further treatment. See your dentist.

DO I TAKE MY NIGHTGUARD TO THE DENTIST WITH ME?

Please take your Bryan Ramp with you to your regular dental visits to recheck the fit and make sure your ramp and bite are functioning. Your dentist may also check to make sure your teeth are not touching in the molar area.
